Do Vandals Test Burglar Alarms Before Breaking and Entering?
Yesterday morning at 4:30, my parents burglar alarm was set off. The police came and checked the house and couldn’t find a cause. Later my Dad found that a bee-bee had punchured his window. That is a strange time for anyone to be using a bee-bee gun. Do Burglars ever use this method to see if the home is unsecured and occupied? I can’t understand this happening at this hour of the morning unless someone has bad intentions…..Am I just being paranoid? Has anyone ever heard of this before?…I’m really curious and a little worried…

Burglars vary in their level of sophistication. Given that houses are wired in different ways, popping off a BB at a bedroom window isn’t too bright…although if you’re robbing a place at night, hitting the master bedroom is a good way to turn lights on if someone’s home.
Short answer: The minority may do that, but not as a general rule.
Generally speaking yes. The more sophisticated the burglar or burglars, then the more likely the answer is yes.
Many years ago when a family was away for the long weekend, a delivery van arrived at their house. The guys got out and knocked at the door. When no one answered they went through the pretense of calling the residence. Again there was no answer.
One of the “movers” broke in through the kitchen window. Later, a number of the neighbors recalled seeing the “movers” emptying the contents of the house and driving away, but nobody thought it was odd enough to call the police. It was done in broad daylight and it was a new family that few people knew well.
Be cautious. Successful criminals are highly intelligent in ways that we often don’t realize until its too late because we are not criminals.

Burglars are thick as pig sh1t. The only ‘testing’ they do is when they trigger something.
Fact is – a burglar isnt afraid of these devices because by the time the cops have arrived, they’ve already emptied your house, fondled your daughter, and gone running down the street carrying a big SWAG bag.
Most likely you are the victim of a driveby shooting from a group of kids. Or one of the kids across the street has insomnia and was playing soldier out of his bedroom window.
