Home Security Advice For Your Houston Apartment:
<!– @page { margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } –>
Many Houston residents have chosen to live in the heart of the city itself, rather than one of the many suburbs and surrounding urban areas that circle the city. The benefits of this are clear: you will be closer to work, cutting down on commuting times; you are much closer to all of the bars, restaurants and culture that the city can offer, and also public transit provision is much more comprehensive than in the suburbs, making it much easier to get around. If you live in the centre, chances are that you are based in a multi-storey apartment building.
At first glance, you may think that living in an apartment makes you safer from burglaries and robberies. This is true to an extent- modern buildings tend to have heavy security doors at the entrance, as well as doormen and security personnel to ensure the safety of residents. On the other hand, the centre of cities tends to suffer higher crime rates in general than in quieter suburbs, and Houston is no exception to this. In any case, there is no reason not to at least consider improving home security whatever your situation, and feeling safer in an apartment can be improved with just a few simple steps:
Home alarm systems: They can still be a useful deterrent in apartments as well as houses. They will be most useful for people living on the ground of first floors- homes which can possibly be accessed from the outside via a window or balcony. An added advantage with an apartment alarm is that many people will hear it in case of an intrusion, a further deterrent to a potential thief.
Buzzers: Most apartments are now equipped with buzzers which allow access to the building for someone waiting downstairs. These are valuable devices, but also are open to exploitation by the wrong people. Never answer the door to someone you don’t know who has buzzed- a popular ploy is to press all the buttons of a building in the hope that one person will attend and allow them entry. Equally, if you walk past someone downstairs waiting to enter, do not allow them past- if they are legitimate, someone will soon be attending to them.
Neighbours: Despite living in such close proximity, apartments generally do not encourage close neighbour relations, due to different schedules, the lack of common living space etc. Friendly neighbours however are just as much a benefit as they would be in the suburbs to optimal home security- you can get to know the type of people who visits, making it easier in the future to spot someone who shouldn’t be there.

I need advice on night time toilet training my 4 yr old son?
I am having some issues with getting my son to get up in the night and use the bathroom. He sleeps so soundly that he will wet the bed and not wake up. He will be 5 in March.
HE is big for his age, and very very smart. I try to explain to him that he needs to get up when he feels like he is going to go pee, and use the potty (it is across the hall from his room). I leave the bathroom light on and a light in the hallway on also.
I have been trying waking himi up at night to go potty, and it works pretty well, but then I am tired from waking up every 2 or 3 hours to take him to the bathroom…
I have also tried setting an alarm in his room to go off every 3 hours to wake him up so he goes on his own with no luck.
I have him wearing pull ups at night because we dont have a washer and dryer in our home yet, and doing laundry every day was getting to be a bit too much for me…
any advice???
Easy Advice For Home Security And Safety

We are all concerned with safety and security, whether it has to do with our home or are family. Today, there are so many more dangers than there once were, and sadly, we no longer live in a completely safe world. All you have to do is turn on the news or open a newspaper to see that crime rates are on the rise and once secure cities are now having more and more safety issues. As a homeowner you have to confront this situation head on and take responsibility when it comes to protecting the things that matter most to you.
In order to do this, you must educate yourself on basic home security and safety matters, so that you can take the necessary precautions. You do not have to spend a lot of time or money to make your home more secure, but you should absolutely make this a priority. Do not hesitate to do everything that you can in order to ensure you do not become a victim or deal with the consequences of an accident at home. No one can afford to deal with the aftermath of a home burglary or another sort of tragic event, as this can be extremely devastating, both emotionally and financially.
While you may have already taken some steps to securing your home, it is important that you regular do a mental checklist and really think about all the ways that you can protect your property from intruders, or any other dangers. Here are some basic tips to keep in mind:
-Many people today know the importance of having a home security system, but if you do not have one you should absolutely get one installed as soon as possible. Do not make the mistake of investing in an extremely expensive system, as most households actually do not need an alarm that is particularly high tech or fancy. Depending on your property, you most likely need a system that monitors your front door and any downstairs entrances. If you happen to have a very large home or if you are concerned about the safety of your neighborhood, then you may consider upgrading to a 24-hour monitoring system. This means that the alarm company is basically watching your house at all hours of the day, and this can give you increased peace of mind that your home is secure.
-Equally important as a home alarm to the safety of your property and family is making sure you have working smoke detectors. A house fire is one of the most devastating things you can experience as a homeowner, and even with insurance it can put you into serious debt. Smoke detector batteries need to be changed once a year to make sure they are functioning properly, but check yours more often just to err on the side of caution. For further fire safety, you should also be extremely careful about always turning off household appliances, like the stove and oven. Avoid burning candles in the home and use caution when using your fireplace in the winter.
Look to adt home security for your alarm needs. Trust in adt alarms for the best in service and reliability.
Easy Advice for Increased Home Security

These days, it seems like there is an endless lists of reasons to be stressed out. If you are like most people, then you are probably concerned about your financial situation and maybe even the security of your job. The economic downturn has left a lot of people scrambling just to make ends meet, and this can be extremely overwhelming. On top of that, the world that we live in is crazier than ever, and you cannot even turn on the news without hearing about another horror taking place somewhere around the world.
Sadly, we are living in a chaotic time and even average American households are feeling the immediate effects. One of the biggest concerns and causes of stress for many people is the fact that along with a rising unemployment rate, the Nation’s crime rate is increasing as well. Even nice suburbs that were once considered safe and secure are seeing a drastic increase in home burglaries and break ins. This is a serious cause for concern if you are a homeowner and you must take note. While you no doubt have plenty of responsibilities and obligations already, home security should be one of your main priorities. Few things are quite as devastating as becoming the victim of a home invasion, so you must do everything you can to not find yourself in this position.
Considering that you already have so much on your plate, it is important to note that making your home more safe and secure does not need to take a lot of time and energy. There are simple things that you can do today that will have a serious impact and will make you home much less vulnerable to a potential burglar. Here are some important tips that you should come in mind:
-One of the most important ways to keep you home secure is to simply take an extra moment every time you leave your house. Make sure you lock all doors and secure all windows, because burglars will scour a property looking for an entrance that the homeowner overlooked. This makes it far too easy for a burglar to get inside your home, so be sure not to make this serious mistake. When your life is extremely busy and you are always in a rush, it is far too easy to leave the house without taking that extra moment to double check everything, so be sure to do this.
-Another important measure to take is to install a home security system if you do not already have one. By simply devoting a day to installation, you can make your home significantly more secure in the long run. This is hands down the best deterrent against becoming the victim of a home robbery and it makes your house a much less attractive target for criminals. If you have been hesitant to invest in a home alarm because you do not think you can afford one, this is a mistake. There is a range of alarms available on the market and you can easily find one that fits within your price range. You do not need the most high tech alarm in order to increase the security of your home – so long as it monitors all your potentially vulnerable downstairs entrances, it should be sufficient.
adt security offers the best alarm systems around. Nothing is better than adt home security when it comes to protecting your home.
Following Home Security Advice
Home security is important to everyone. Government and officials will supply security advice to the local residents. Home security advice can help people protect their families and their property. The security officials in a city or town are often overwhelmed by the crime in the area. The police are dedicated to helping people of their jurisdiction but often cannot help each person in distress in a timely manner. The individual person must take some responsibility for their own security. Fortunately, there are many sources to find valuable advice. The home security advice is usually helpful and clear so people can follow these advice and feel safe in their homes and out on the streets.
The first home security advice will come from professionals who will urge people to look carefully at their surroundings to see where there are vulnerabilities. Many crimes are committed by thieves who just wait for the perfect opportunity because they do not want to get caught. These thieves will look for homes that are vacant because the occupants are on vacation. The evidence is often newspapers that are left on the porch or mail that has piled up in the box on the street. The professionals who provide home security advice will suggest that a request is made to the post office to hold the mail and a hold is put on the newspaper subscription.
Many of the professionals in charge of security provide home security advice through the newspapers and television news programs. These people know that many of the professionals are too busy at times to help all of the people in distress. These people try to reach the citizens by providing great advice so people can provide some of their own protection. Fire officials provide home security advice by discussing the importance of fire alarms. Their advice programs remind people to check these alarms to make sure that they are in working order.
Those in charge of home security advice often publish a list of the crimes committed in a certain area so the residents know of the possible dangers. They remind people that there have been numerous burglaries in the area so people check their doors and windows before they leave or retire for the evening. Those in charge of security remind people of car thefts in the area so people secure their cars with the recommended devices. All citizens should listen carefully to the home security advice provided by the officials who know the facts.

Alright, I need some advice regarding my chart.
At this point, I do NOT think I have ovulated.
http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/ilovenickle
I was using advanced detection, and it had given me dashed crosshairs on CD17. After talking with a VIP monitor, she changed my detection to fertility awareness method, and sayd I should use that for this cycle, and if a better date becomes obvious, it will give me crosshairs again.
Should I discard any temps, or leave it as it is? This is my first cycle charting temps, and a lot has heppened. On CD18 and 19, my alarm clock had broken and those temperatures were taken later than usual. For a few days, I had a cold. On August 3rd, I got a chemical burn in my eye, and that day was stressful. Also, due to an operation I had 9 years ago, it is common for me to have to wake up during the night to urinate. In fact, last night it happened two or three times.
Can anyone offer any advice?
Home Insurance Advice
If you do not have coverage for the fair or full value of the owned property, you will not be able to get financial help from mortgage companies. A few tips can make your home insurance meet your needs: Homeowners’ insurance isn’t cheap. People living in areas more prone to earthquakes, floods or high claim areas pay the highest coverage. Sometimes, high-risk residents are asked to pay thousands of dollars as annual premiums. However, this does not means that homeowners of secluded, suburban areas can buy a cheap policy. The basic policy for relatively out-of-the-way areas lies between 100-500 US dollars. Many people restrain from purchasing homeowner’s insurance because of the expenses involved in it. Homeowner’s insurance is not a choice that you can make. It is absolutely necessary and you should not refrain from buying it. The best thing about this is that you can cut down its cost by following some steps. 1) You Security Alarm Helps Cut Down Premium Costs: By installing a burglar alarm in your house and connecting it with a police station can help you cut down your premium costs up to 5 percent. However, in order to avail this benefit, you will have to show the insurance company the contract paper. Smoke alarms can also make things easy for you. Usually, a smoke alarm is installed in all newly built houses but if you set a smoke alarm in an old house, you can save more than 8 percent on your premium amount. Keeping you away from fire is another benefit that they give. So get the alarms for your safety and cut down your insurance cost. 2) Increase Deductible To Decrease Premium: Just like any other kind of insurance, if you choose a higher deductible for your homeowner insurance, you will have to pay lesser premium. This is another simple and easy way to keep away from paying higher premiums. 3) Buy From the Same Insurance Company: Instead of buying your auto and health insurance policies from other companies, consider purchasing them from the same company where you have bought your homeowner policy. There are a lot of companies that allow a discount up to 10 percent to all their customers who buy multiple policies from them. In this way, you can save on two or more premiums and control your expenses considerably. Moreover, you will stay away from the hassle of contacting different companies in case of any incident. 4) Pay Back Your Mortgage Loans: People who repay their debts to mortgage companies have to pay smaller premiums. You may wonder why it’s so. The answer is downright simple. The owner who manages to pay back his loans to take possession of his homes is also capable of taking care of his home. Once you satisfy Mortgage Company, the insurance company will satisfy you. End Note In order to keep yourself away from any kind of trouble and to receive your insurance money in time, make sure that you have everything written in black and white. Moreover, take pictures and make a video of your home. Keep the pictures and movies somewhere safe, preferably at your siblings’ place. This will constitute a record of the belongings of the homeowner and can be presented to the insurance company in case of any kind of calamity. Moreover, it will save you from a lot of fatigue and time for claiming your possessions, if the disaster really occurs.

Home Security Advice For The Independent Woman
<!– @page { margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } A:link { so-language: zxx } –>
Being a woman has never been easy. Throughout history women have endured periods of oppression and have been considered inferior to men. Today, women are becoming more and more powerful in their roles. Women are politicians, they are CEOs of top companies, and they help defend the country in wars. Indeed, women have fought for the positions that they hold today. Unfortunately, for the woman who lives alone, she is more likely to be threatened by a home intruder than is her male counterpart. For this reason, it is highly important that women living by themselves implement extra home security measures.
For women young and old, it is necessary to make sure that your home is well protected and safe. Especially if you are living in an urban environment where crimes are more likely to happen, you need to be extra cautious. A smart criminal does not make random attacks, rather, he observes the situation that he will encounter when he commits his crime. This means that he will watch you enter and leave your house over a period of time, taking note that you live by yourself. And because you are a woman, he will find you an easier target that is less capable of defending herself.
To better improve your home security, you should install a deadbolt lock to the entrance of your home. This will make it more difficult for a potential criminal to enter the house. Of course, since you are living by yourself, you are likely very good at remembering to lock the door. You must take full responsibility if anything should happen to your home, so never slack in making sure that it is well secured.
You’ll also want to set up a home alarm system. Should a break-in occur, you can set the alarm to alert authorities immediately, or within a specific amount of time. Being the only inhabitant of the home, it would be safest that you set a minimal delay time between the sounding alarm and when the system notifies authorities. It is difficult to respond quickly when a home intrusion occurs, and you don’t want to risk your life trying to get to the telephone.
Another measure you can take to better protect yourself is to enroll in self-defense classes. Many fitness centers and YMCAs offer classes specifically designed for women, taking into consideration the physique and physical capabilities of the female form. Taking a class will not only give you strength, but it will also prepare you for the worst situations. You’ll be able to defend yourself in no time.
Home security is important for all people to consider, but even more so for females who are living on their own. Make sure you have a sturdy and secure entrance to your home. Installing an alarm system will keep you safe in situations where you do not have enough time to notify police. And to further strengthen your defense, take a self-defense class at a local fitness center so that you can defend yourself should the situation arise. Your ability to defend yourself only contributes to the advancement of women.
Let adt security help you out in case of an emergency. An adt alarm system will notify you, as well as the local police of a break-in.
What advice can you give me to get rid of a bad habit?
I cannot for the life of me wake up at a decent hour. I am very accustomed to stating up late and sleeping in but I recently started my new job (I work 3:30 till 11:00 p.m.) and I have difficulty going to sleep when I get home and waking up when I want to. I want to go t o sleep at 1 a.m. so I can get 8 hours of sleep and be ready to wake up at 9 a.m. This never happens. I come home from work around 11:30 and I’m full of energy. I pop 2 sleeping pills and I straighten up my apartment, feed my cat, call me friends and mom, wash my face, start watching TV. The pills (over the counter) seem to kick in but they never give me that full I-can’t-keep-my-eyes-open effect. Finally around 3 I get so pissed that I’m 2 hours off schedule that I go to bed….and lay there for about 45 min to an hour. I end up waking up around 12:30. My alarm will start going off at 9 and I will push snooze until 12!! I think the pills make me really drowsey also and I have no energy when I wake to get things done!!
One of the reasons I wanted to wake up early is to work out (I have a tredmil in my apartment) but I read somewhere else that exercising at night makes you stay awake longer! Plus I don’t want to go to sleep covered in sweat! (taking a shower would really wake me up and it would take even longer!) Cant affort a ‘sleep specialist’
Continuing Education Advice Please?
Hello all and thanks in advance for your answers. I am currently working at the corporate office for a large health care company as a physical security professional. My main job function is the complete operation of the company’s physical access control system and alarm systems for the home office as well as numerous remote locations and subsidiaries across the nation. A majority of my work experience is in the physical security industry and any knowledge of access control systems or alarm systems has been picked up by looking over vendor’s shoulders and limited onsite training by vendor staff. I am not unfamiliar with computers, picking up some knowledge here and there, but I know enough to know that I don’t know enough.
In a field where “convergence” seems to be the word of the day and security systems are getting more technically advanced, my goal would be to improve my knowledge of the IT industry and how it relates to physical security systems in order to advance my career. The only problem is I am not really sure where to begin with selecting classes, certifications, or tech schools vs. college.
I would like to specifically focus on IP related topics, networking, SQL, database maintenance, IT security, and anything I might be missing (if anyone has any suggestions). As I said I know enough to know I don’t know enough. Most of my focuses are words or situations that have arisen as I have been working but I could not tell you what most of them mean or how they work, I know they just do and if not I call the helpdesk or vendor.
I would also like to obtain more knowledge pertaining to the installation of security systems though this is probably more of an electrical industry topic but it also includes database construction.
I do have a limited schedule so I am basically looking at just taking classes specific to my job function vs. obtaining a degree but would like to eventually earn some form of IT degree.
If anyone out there has any knowledge of security systems or advice over what classes I should look into taking I would greatly appreciate your feedback.
Thanks
