Protecting Your Home With Wireless Burglar Alarms
Protecting your home from intruders, break-ins, and fires used to be a very expensive installation with the old traditional wired alarm systems. Since the release of wireless burglar alarms it has made it affordable for almost any home owner, or renter to install an alarm system in their home. It all runs through radio frequency waves, eliminating hard-labor installations.
The control panel is the part of the system that gets notified by the other components when there is an intruder in the house. It’s the brain of all wireless burglar alarms, so it should be place somewhere out of the way. Like a basement, or a closet. The keypad is where you can modify the settings. This is also where you can activate and deactivate the alarm system; so you should put it at an easy access place. Some systems come with remote controls which are useful for activating and deactivating the alarm from a distance.
The entrance doors are the most vulnerable parts of the house to intruders. Especially if you have the glass sliding doors in the back yards cause those can easily be broken. Also most door frames are made of wood, which can easily be chattered with a forceful push of the door (you’ve all seen Police Videos). All the windows, glass sliding doors, and other entrance doors should be protected with magnetic switches to detect when there is an intrusion. When either a door or a window is opened it sends the signal over to the main control panel and turns on the alarm.
To detect motions either in big rooms, hallways, or other areas motion sensors is great. They detect body heat, and motion from 30-60 feet, depending on what equipment you have. To protect the outside areas, or check who’s at the door way cameras are real handy. They send their feed back to the monitor.
Although those of us who own wireless burglar alarms hope that we will never have to put them to use, they are extremely useful when the situation actually does show up. It allows you to handle the situation in a much more relaxed way, especially if you are paying for monitoring fees.

Are you looking for the best wireless burglar alarms ?
Portable Home Security Alarms
Portable Home Security Alarms are home security options for those living in apartments and may not have the permission of the landlord to begin drilling holes into the walls in order to install banks of security cameras. Portable alarms come in handy for travelers, particularly those who travel alone, because these systems are fairly easy for someone to set up in their hotel room. Even homeowners may think about purchasing these units if they don’t want to put up with installing a more comprehensive system or if there is not a good place for mounting a motion-detector.
About Portable Alarms
According to a recent publication about home security systems, portable burglar alarms are designed to be relatively small, self-contained units that are battery-powered. An alarm and a motion sensor are both included in portable home security alarms. You can get a style that sits on a flat area such as a desk or shelf. Alarms are also available that hang on the doorknob. These are a few of its other features:
• Quick, simple setup anyplace you need it
• Will expand up to your choice of 16 sensors
• Totally wireless deployment
• For full support, a monitoring fee each month is required
There are a couple of portable home security alarms that I would like to mention. The first is known as the Tattletale portable alarm system. It can be used anywhere to protect whatever you need protected. The Tattletale is comprised of a base station acting as a mobile command center that communicates with a number of sensors that can be placed up to 2000 feet from its base.
When you purchase Tattletale, you get an alarm system that is complete in this one unit that is quite compact. Due to the fact that the features of the alarm are all integrated in this single unit, installation is not needed and you do not have to worry about scheduling any appointments. All you have to do is plug your Tattletale into an outlet and you are ready to go!
Another one of the Portable Home Security Alarms are called LaserShield. With this system, you are able to prevent unauthorized access or burglaries to private areas or rooms in your home. It is an easy to use, wireless, low-cost, innovative security system. With LaserShield, you do not have to worry about any messy or complicated installations.
The LaserShield is amazingly easy! It takes just three easy steps to set up:
• Plug the unit into a convenient AC outlet
• Turn the power on
• You only have to touch a button, and after that, you are supposed to establish a link from the key chain remote to the infrared wireless detection unit
You will find that the LaserShield Starter Kit is just right for apartments, rental homes, college dormitories, townhouses, offices, retail stores, hotels or just about anywhere you wish to install your portable alarm system and not have to deal with the trouble of drilling or of following any other kind of complex installation instructions. This installation job is so simple that you can do it yourself!
Now that you have learned about portable home security alarms, now is your chance to pick one up and experience great protection.

Do Vandals Test Burglar Alarms Before Breaking and Entering?
Yesterday morning at 4:30, my parents burglar alarm was set off. The police came and checked the house and couldn’t find a cause. Later my Dad found that a bee-bee had punchured his window. That is a strange time for anyone to be using a bee-bee gun. Do Burglars ever use this method to see if the home is unsecured and occupied? I can’t understand this happening at this hour of the morning unless someone has bad intentions…..Am I just being paranoid? Has anyone ever heard of this before?…I’m really curious and a little worried…
Security Alarms Are A Safe Bet
Security alarms provide you peace of mind by preventing intruders from entering your home and offices. For an initial payment and monthly fees you can give the task of maintaining the security of your house and offices to a security company.
Types of Security Alarms
There are a range of alarms available to suit all manner of security needs. Some of them are simple and can be personally installed, while others are more sophisticated and need to be installed by experts. However, most alarms fall in the following three categories:
Pressure-based Alarms: Intruder alarms or burglar alarms based on pressure keys are installed next to the doors of your house. Since 90% of all breaking and entering happens through a door, this kind of security alarm makes perfect sense. The alarm is triggered whenever the door is opened and a signal is sent to the monitoring station. Motion-sensitive Alarms: These alarms are triggered whenever there is any kind of movement in or around your house. In case you have pets, you can also opt for motion sensitive alarms that are pet tolerant. Camera Alarms: These alarms are fitted with cameras and sound recording devices which act as additional eyes and ears when you are away from your house. This system can also be used to keep an eye on anyone inside the house; for example, your baby sitter.
Selecting Security Alarms
Since criminal methods are hard to predict, you should consult a well-reputed security firm for a proper assessment of your security needs. A good security company will be well versed with the latest developments and they can correctly advice you. While choosing a good security company, try to get references from your friends and relatives who might have recently installed security alarms in their houses or workplace. Check the history of the company that you want to hire. If the company is in business for long; it would indicate that the company is reliable. After all, security is an issue that cannot be compromised on. If you live in a crime-prone area, try and find out about additional services such as insurance, etc.
One security company which can offer reliable security alarms to suit all kinds of needs and budgets is ADS Home Security. You can also contact the company for any information in the field of home security.
ADS Home Security is an authorized ADT dealer provides ADT Alarms, home protection alarm, ADT security systems, and more to protect what you value most.

Not All Monitored Intruder Alarms Qualify For Police Response
For complete peace of mind, many people choose to have their intruder alarms monitored. If an alarm system is monitored, then, when it detects an intruder it automatically sends a signal via the phone line and/or cellular network to an ARC (Alarm Receiving Centre – these used to be referred to as Central Stations or Monitoring Stations) and the appropriate action is taken. CIA uses Southern Monitoring Services (SMS) Ltd.
New Police/Constabulary Service guidelines (the ACPO Policy on Response to Security – ACPO are the Association of Chief Police Officers of England, Wales and Northern Ireland) state that the Police will now only attend monitored alarms that ‘confirm’ alarm activations (unless installed pre October 2002).
Confirmation is received when a second detection device is triggered during the same intrusion; therefore, something is definitely on site and moving around and there is less chance of the activation being a false alarm.
On receiving the first activation, the ARC will notify a keyholder but if a second detection device is triggered in the same activation, this confirms to the ARC that ‘something’ is definitely on site and moving around, and the Police are instantly alerted.
To summarise, there are three levels of Police Response.
Level 1 – Immediate.
All systems are attributed to a Level 1 status when they are first installed. After 2 false calls within any 12 month period, Police response will fall to Level 2.
Level 2 – Immediate attendance if possible, but dependent on resource availability.
Systems will remain at Level 2 status until they have been free from false calls for more than 3 months. If the system generates a further 3 false calls, making 5 in any 12 month period, the system will fall to Level 3 status and response will be withdrawn.
Level 3 – No Police attendance unless an offence is confirmed as taking place.
Systems will remain at Level 3 status until they have been free from false calls for over a period of over 3 months. This may have implications to any insurance cover. Response will only be reinstated to confirmed activations after the three month period.
Alarm Confirmation
There are three common types of confirmation; Sequential, Audio and Visual.
Sequential confirmation occurs when two detection devices detect movement within the same activation. This may typically be a external door opened, triggering a magnetic red contact, followed by a passive infra-red movement sensor detecting movement inside the building or could be two movement sensor either in adjacent rooms or the same room.
Audio confirmation works using microphone technology normally fitted inside or behind the detection devices. Audio confirm happens when, on activation of a single detection device, an operator at the ARC listens in and can hear suspicious noises.
Obliviously an audible confirmation system requires a silent alarm.
Visual confirmation works in the same way as audible, although CCTV cameras are fitted instead of microphones so that the ARC staff are able to see what has caused an activation. This can either be achieved by small lens integrated with the movement sensor or through an integrated CCTV system. This is normally the best form of confirmation but also often the most expensive.
Communicating with the Alarm Receiving Centre (Monitoring Station)
If an intruder is detected, the signal is sent from the alarm system using either a standard digital communicator, BT RedCare, BT RedCare GSM or CSL DualComm, via the phone line and/or a cellular network.
A standard digital communicator works by sending signals via the ordinary analogue telephone network, as does BT RedCare, however, with RedCare the ARC are alerted if the phone line fails, either through attack or a genuine line fault, as the line is constantly monitored.
BT RedCare GSM and CSL DualComm send alarm activations via the phone line and a cellular network to for increased security. These forms of signalling are ideal if your insurance company requires your alarm to transmit confirmation signals after a line cut.
Your home is your greatest asset. Why leave it vulnerable when it clearly pays to have your house protected by security professionals.
