On the other hand a wireless alarm system is very straightforward to install. In fact most DIY’ers can undertake the installation thus saving a considerable amount of cash. Virtually no additional materials are involved so if you are not looking to spend a fortune on a home security system then a wireless system is for you. These days they are so much more reliable than they once were and false alerts are a thing of the past. They are fantastic for rented accommodation too as they can be easily removed when you leave your rented property. Adding an additional sensor or two at a later time is a breeze and there is no need to employ a tradesman to do this. Be sure to purchase a system that allows suitable future expandability. You can start out with just a couple of sensors and grow your system as finances dictate. The only slight disadvantage is that you will have a change all of the batteries in the wireless sensors on a regular basis but it’s a small price to pay for the flexibility and versatility of a wireless alarm system.

A self-contained alarm system is a single unit often shaped like an everyday object such as a VCR or PIR motion detector. These devices are limited in features and functionality but offer great flexibility if portability is a requirement such as a short term stay in a property or even your garden shed, where there is no power available. Most self-contained alarm systems are powered by batteries so are great for outdoor use or vehicles such as motor homes or caravans.

I am a secretary for a home security business (fire/smoke alarms, burglar alarms, security systems, etc). It is a small business, operated from the owner’s home. They have many clients and aren’t in any danger of closing from lack of funds, but the business has gotten by purely through word of mouth (client testimonials) and small phone book and/or newspaper ads. I know that a website would greatly help the business and bring in more clientele, more accounts, and broaden the possibilities for the future. I know my boss would love the idea of a website and I am HTML literate and can build websites sufficiently enough in programs like Dreamweaver for them to be professional and easily navigable.

My problem, is that I don’t know how much to charge him for the website maintenance, building, etc. I am not a web designer by trade, it has been purely a hobby of mine to fiddle with HTML. I’m not looking to charge him as if I were a professional web designer, but I don’t want to do all of this additional work free of charge — you know it takes time to design, build, and upkeep a website. I plan on being with this job for a long while and even if I left for another job, he would probably want me to maintain the website anyway. [He is a friend of the family and is not particularly computer savvy and doesn't know where to start looking for a dependable other to maintain the website].. Should I charge him a flat fee for the website creation and then a monthly fee? Or should I just get him to increase my salary a bit and make it a part of my job description so that it is a normal duty? Web designers and small business owners, please, your experience here would be much appreciated! I want your opinion, what should I do? Thank you!!

My job is to go out and knock on peoples doors and find those who are interested in a free alarm system for their home, with installation include. There is a $99 activation fee and they have to pay monitoring fees of about $30-$50 per month.

How can I find local people that are searching for something like this without having to knock on doors. I really want to generate sales without having to knock on doors.

More like people calling me interested to join instead.
Please help.

A burglar alarm system is the obvious first choice when it comes to choosing security equipment. It is hard wired to my home’s electrical system. It only goes off at night – never in the day. Seems to go off when the heater comes on. A few power outlets in my home also quit working around the same time. But I checked the circuit breaker and none of the circuits are tripped. Any advice?

Decide which interior rooms would most benefit from these devices. Ideally all interior rooms should have a PIR sensor but just install the rooms with the most valuables items in the first instance to help keep the cost down. The beauty of a wireless alarm system is that extra devices can be added at a later date – without the need to get professional installers back in.

For your safety it is recommended that smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors be installed and added to your wireless system as these devices could save your life. Thousands of people die every year in house fires and in most cases could be prevented if they simply had a smoke detector installed. Carbon monoxide detectors sense the poisonous gas which is odourless, colorless and tasteless and can be emitted from faulty gas appliances.

Seems like anyone breaking into my home will run away when alarm goes off. Why can’t I install my own alarm and not pay monitoring?

So. I was coming home today from school and went to open the door to shut off the alarm, as usual. But today I couldn’t get the alarm to shut off, so the alarm went off. Being only 14 and hearing you should do this from somewhere, I quickly called 911 to tell them it wasn’t necessary to send anybody, as it was a false alarm. They just told me to call the alarm company and tell them. Now I’m reading online that you should never call 911 to cancel a burglar alarm. Now i feel dumb… Was calling 911 a stupid idea?

I was told that it could annoy neighbors with the sound. I live in a good neighborhood, but I am a single female.
